Asma

Asma

Asma registered for the Integrated Employment Services program with Achēv-Mississauga in March 2022. She was a recipient of Ontario Works and looking for assistance with finding work in her field as an Office Administrator.

Asma is a newcomer from Pakistan with professional experience working as a project manager in non-profit and government organizations. Still, her most significant barrier was a lack of Canadian experience. As a newcomer, Asma spent long nights applying for many jobs and even attended some interviews, but she could not land a job.

Asma showed passion and dedication to her job search by attending a series of webinars, hiring events, and one-to-one coaching sessions to improve her resume writing and interview skills.

“My Career Specialist was highly dedicated and burnt the midnight oil to help me achieve the best opportunities available,” says Asma.

Asma began working at a local grocery store to earn an income. At the same time, she continued to work with her career specialist to improve her resume and interviewing skills. Through the specialist’s network, an opportunity came about to apply for a job with the Ministry of the Attorney General. Asma attended her job interview in mid-June and was hired in early July. Asma was thrilled and couldn’t wait to tell her career specialist the great news. Asma says,

“I want to express my profound gratitude to the entire team for helping me achieve a great opportunity to showcase my talent and abilities to the world… this is one of the best employment agencies in Ontario when it comes to finding work for newcomers!”
