Asma registered for the Integrated Employment Services program with Achēv-Mississauga in March 2022. She was a recipient of Ontario Works and looking for assistance with finding work in her field as an Office Administrator.
Asma is a newcomer from Pakistan with professional experience working as a project manager in non-profit and government organizations. Still, her most significant barrier was a lack of Canadian experience. As a newcomer, Asma spent long nights applying for many jobs and even attended some interviews, but she could not land a job.
Asma showed passion and dedication to her job search by attending a series of webinars, hiring events, and one-to-one coaching sessions to improve her resume writing and interview skills.
Asma began working at a local grocery store to earn an income. At the same time, she continued to work with her career specialist to improve her resume and interviewing skills. Through the specialist’s network, an opportunity came about to apply for a job with the Ministry of the Attorney General. Asma attended her job interview in mid-June and was hired in early July.
